Uruguay's striker Diego Forlan has been named winner of the adidas Golden Ball, i.e. the Best Player at the 2010 World Cup.

The 31-year-old forward played a key role for the superb performance of his country's national team which reached the fourth place and won bronze medals.

He scored a total of five goals in Uruguay's 7 World Cup matches. Wesley Sneijder of the Netherlands has been declared holder of the adidas Silver Ball, while David Villa of Spain – of the adidas Bronze Ball.
