Ivan Geshev: Boyko Borissov is Behind the Attempt on my Life
Former prosecutor general Ivan Geshev has pointed fingers at GERB leader Boyko Borissov, alleging his involvement in an assassination attempt against him
Resigned PM Boyko Borisov has appeared for the first time in months in front of the media. He avoided the journalists for a long time and even after the work of the 45th National Assembly began.
His press conference was presented to the media quickly - with a message at 8.33 to be held at 9.30 in the Sunday morning.
Earlier this week the prime minister (in resignation) took a leave of absence on Friday and did not go to parliament to present Bulgaria's participation in the EU's Recovery and Development Plan.
Today, at the office of GERB party, he declared that he would go to the National Assembly on Wednesday (April 21st) after the deputies voted to oblige him to present himself, but commented that he is summoned not to speak on the questions asked, but to organize a kind of “People's Court”.
He suggested to the new parties to adopt the Plan for Reconstruction and Development, developed by GERB.
Further Borisov continued to praise himself - "I am the the one who deserves most to be in charge, I am the most capable, but I am not running for prime minister, I left the parliamentary seat so as not to irritate “them”, “they” want to make a scandal," he said.
Borisov explained that he had ordered Minister of Health (in resignation) Angelov, that the National Coronavirus Operational Task Force, which was disbanded on his orders just a few days earlier, to continue its functions.
He proposed as chairman of the Task Foce Dr. Alexander Simidchiev, MP from "Democratic Bulgaria", who was elected chairman of the health committee in the parliament.
The briefing was also attended by several other members of the cabinet in resignation - Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Finance Minister Kiril Ananiev and Health Minister Kostadin Angelov.
"The fiscal reserve is BGN 7.9 billion, at the end of next week it will exceed BGN 8 billion, which is twice as much as the minimum required," Ananiev said in response to comments in the Parliament, that the country's financial condition is not good.
