CEZ Power Utility Forced to Introduce Monthly Bills in Bulgaria
A complete senseless decision. The utilities have to send each month 1.000 of people around in order to read the electricity counters. What a waste!

What's senseless about that? That's the way it's done in any country I've ever lived in.

I am in a bad mood today. The Yankees failed to close the deal against Philthysmeltia last night.

Nellie,

Cheer up. The Yanks will win in the new stadium, tomorrow night.

I'm bummed out about The Giants and their three game losing streak.

The utility crews can just drive my property and read my meters by remote control. One month is an estimate and then the next, it's an actual read.
NY is high tech.

That's true. The Jets suck. The Bills do too but who cares about them?

Yes, that's how they do it in the US. They read the meter every 2-3 months, the rest of the time it is an estimate, but the bill has to be paid on a monthly basis.

Nellie:

The German sysstem is only slightly different. The meters are read once a year, and you get an estimate for the next year based on that year's usage. If you overpay, you get credit on the next bill.

The payments, however, are monthly.

The German system sounds very similar to the US, except we get our meters read a few times a year, not just once.

Nellie.

The German sysstem might well save a lot of the costs Taro seems to be fearing.

Yes, I agree. You will not have thousands of meter readers cruising around.

They (BG) might save even more if they adopt the system that is used where I live. Then again, I am not sure how accurate the remotes would be in urban areas. I am not sure how good their pin point accurcy is. I live in an area where the houses are on what are called, large lots and one utility worker in a car, can cover the area that an army of utility workers on foot can.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
