Bulgaria Ex Security Agency Head to Face Court over Leak Scandal
Mr. Stanishev made such a mess disguising the corruption in his government. His own BSP, the turks, and the king's party. Better to take 2-3 sabathical years. Go to study statemanship in Oxford. Come back in full force.

Philippe,

You state: "Go to study statemanship in Oxford. Come back in full force."

Sure.

The 21.6 million USD stoled by his father should be enough to sponsor that.

By the way, is anyone keeping an eye on Parvanov?

Just my two stotinki

Nevermind....You are talking about Stanishev's father. The dirty thief! Why is he not in prison where he belongs?

FIGMENT,

No Dear, I am referring to Dimiter Stanishev, the father of Sergey Stanishev.

Old story, but a track still worth following according to my sources.

Sincerely Yours,

Al

It appears the entire Bulgarian government is made up of the sons and daughters of the old communist nomenclature. Talking about nepotism. There is no other country in the world doing this. Nicholas Sarkosi's son was nominated for something and the French population was so upset, he had to withdraw. In Bulgaria it is the opposite. Unless your father was a communist swine, you don't get into government. What a fcuked up idiotic little nation! Why anyone would choose to live there is beyond me.

Lots of info on Stanishev and his papa here. Fascinating reading!

I particularly enjoyed these paragraphs:

"Sergey Stanishev's mother, Dina Stanisheva is still a Professor at the Slavic Studies Department of Sofia University. In her words, the political heritage and background of her husband created great difficulties for the young Sergey Stanishev at the beginning of the 1990s, and the only organization that was interested in employing him was the newly-reformed Bulgarian Socialist Party.
Sergey Stanishev graduated from today's 35th High School "Dobri Voynikov" in Sofia. In 1989, he completed his Bachelor's degree in history at the Moscow State University with outstanding grades. According to reports in the Bulgarian media, his senior thesis was entitled "The Role of the Uniform for the Combat Spirit of the Servicemen of the Red Army"."

Oh the poor man, he suffered so much! Seriously, who else than the BSP would hire a Soviet/Russian citizen and son of a Soviet spy with no qualification in the early 90s in Bulgaria? It was a mistake to grant him Bulgarian citizenship in 1996.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
