Sofia City Court has found the former MP and Velingrad Mayor, Fidel Beev, guilty for abusing his power and sentenced him to 3,5 years in jail.

Beev, an ex ethnic Turkish party (DPS) MP, was found guilty of abuse of power and conflict of interests over supplying fuels to Velingrad municipal companies from his own business.

Sofia Appellate Court found Beev guilty on charges of assault and murder threats last Thursday.

The court imposed a BGN 2000 fine and ruled that he pays BGN 1500 in damages to the Kostadin Piskov, who bought the case against him.

Both rulings of the Courts can be appealed at the Supreme Cassation Court.
