More Bulgaria Schools Go On Swine Flu Vacation

The fight against the swine flu epidemic in Bulgaria’s Sliven and Yambol regions has picked up speed with more schools closing across the regions.
There are currently a total of 17 confirmed cases of swine flu in the Yambol region. 4 schools in the area have students who have been confirmed to have picked up the A (H1N1)virus and the number of schools and kindergartens that close their doors is increasing every day with all schools in the City itself on swine flu holiday until next week. The estimate is that over 30% of students in the area have got the virus.
The Head of the Regional Education Inspectorate in Sliven, Ivan Slavov, announced Wednesday that 20,2 % of the high school students in the region are absent from school. 5 schools in Sliven have announced swine flu vacations with more expected to follow on Thursday.
Meanwhile, it was announced Wednesday that a man had become Bulgaria's fifth victim of swine flu in Petrich. The Bulgarian health authorities stated earlier this week that bout 90% of the people with swine flu are not seeking medical attention.
