Two kidnapped girls have been found and released by anti-mafia units in a village, close to the town of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, police announced on Friday.

The raid followed a tip-off, received late on Thursday, by the girls' parents who said that on their way home after school in the nearby town of Teteven the two 19-year-old girls were bundled forcefully into a car and apparently kidnapped.

The two girls were found locked into a house in the village of Burkach. Three alleged kidnappers, who are said to have demanded BGN 30,000 in ransom, have been arrested.

Friday, 26 June 2009

20% of the women in 16 villages in Pleven and Russe have become victims of human trafficking since 2007. This information was announced yesterday by Dessislava Georgieva, project coordinator at the Association for Family Planning for Health Services and Counteraction of Human Trafficking, cited by the Bulgarian National Radio. The victims were taken across the border for the purpose of sexual exploitation and most of them were 18 to 22 years old. “In a significant part of the cases, these are women, forced to travel by no other than their relatives: fathers, brothers, husbands, cousins,” said Georgieva.

In fact, with all this money that is blocked from EU, we should use 50.000 € to put the Pleven authorities on a WizzAir flight to Brussels to visit their daughters. The mayors, Chiefs of police, prosecutors, lawyers, judges and school teachers. Mr. Rumen Petkov Himself as delegation leader. We shall invite the other 26 EU countries to wellcome them on the Brussels Grand Place! THERE WILL BE A PARTY!

Let me remind you to Mr. Petkov's words as minister of interior back in 2007. 2 years later he has the infamous honor be the leader of a regio where the daughters are the most widespread prostitutes in Europe. And his relations with the pimps are "excellent". In fact, they only want to organise Formula One races, and these girls are future pit-stop-chicks.

These are this idiot's words in the NDK, on the first regional seminar on human trafficking in Southeastern Europe, April 2007;

“The fight with human trafficking requires the efforts of all institutions involved in the problem,” Interior Minister Roumen Petkov said at the opening of the seminar. He added that the subject of the seminar is of great importance and responsibility as this is the beginning of constructing comprehensive plans for protection and assistance of the victims of human trafficking not only on a national and regional level but in Southeast Europe as a whole. The first regional seminar will contribute to the successful implementation of the Transnational Mechanisms for Referral of People Victims of Trafficking in Southeast Europe Programme. Its success depends on all of us- government institutions, international and non-governmental organizations on national, regional and international level.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
