A snapshot of the Turkish-language anti-Bulgarian group and the two Facebook groups which were set up to protest it.
The anti-Bulgarian Turkish-language group on Facebook called "F*** BULGARIA", of which Novinite.com reported Monday, has led to spiraling protests of Bulgarian members of the global social network.
Bulgarian users of Facebook have reacted massively forming two groups: one called “We Are against F*** Bulgaria” with some 60 000 members late Tuesday night, and another one called “Turkish Group Called “F*** BULGARIA” to Be Removed from Facebook” with over 5 000 members Tuesday night.
Despite the many alerts submitted to Facebook over the racist and offensive nature of the “F*** BULGARIA” group, mostly by Bulgarian users, the group has still not been removed by the moderators.
What is more, its membership has actually grown from 117 Monday morning up to 186 Tuesday night.
A second, French-language Facebook group named "f*** bulgaria", has also seen its membership grow from 2 to 10 over the last 24 hours.
The existence of the anti-Bulgarian Facebook group with inscriptions in Turkish has led some Bulgarian Facebook users to respond with anti-Turkish comments.
The Editorial Team of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) would like to express its concern over the emerging situation, which threatens to cause a spiral of tensions within the global social network. We call upon Facebook to moderate the anti-Bulgarian group in accordance with its Terms of Use in order to prevent any unfortunate developments in the above-mentioned sense.
