The Bulgarian EU Commissioner on International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva, has been nominated for EU Commissioner of the Year by "European Voice."
"Last to be nominated as European commissioner, Georgieva has outperformed many of her fellow commissioners. She has mastered her dossier and proved authoritative and competent. Her humanitarian aid office has had to response to disaster in Haiti and Pakistan," the nomination says.
This is the second time a Bulgarian EU Commissioner receives the prestigious nomination. Meglena Kuneva was nominated in the same category in 2008.
The winner will be announced after an online voting at the website of "European Voice" by the end of the month.
"European Voice" is an English language newspaper owned by The Economist group.
The other nominees in the category EU Commissioner of the Year are Viviane Reding (justice and fundamental rights), Slim Kallas (transport) and Cecilia Malmstrom (home affairs).
