The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is demanding from Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, an answer if he had been presented with a list of the institution's most expensive and lucrative properties to be used as collateral for long-term loans from abroad.
The open letter was sent Tuesday to Borisov and the chairs of all parliamentary political party groups.
BAS scientists and researchers further want to know if unofficial talks have been held with mayors of all major Bulgarian cities for public-private partnerships after the inclusion of several Academy properties in the State fund with the goal to quickly sell them.
The scientists are concerned about concrete reports conducted by experts of the Council of Ministries, the Ministries of Finance and Education, aiming at appropriating 7 BAS institutes to include their buildings and intellectual property.
The letter further demands an answer from the Members of the Parliament, asking them to say if they would pass such proposal of the cabinet.
