Bulgaria: FBI Warned Wall Street of Terror Threat - Report File photo

Major Wall Street institutions have been warned by US federal security officials of a potential Qaeda-linked terror attack, according to media reports on Thursday.

NBC has cited unidentified intelligence officials and reporting that the threats came from Yemen. A magazine linked to al-Qaeda has reportedly suggested that the financial market may be the next terror target, upon which Security officials have briefed Wall Streat about the potential danger.

The briefings were held by the Federal Bureau of Investigation-led Joint Terrorism Task Force with Wall Street executives in January.

However, Jim Margolin, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has commented that "the information that was discussed was not imminent, not specific."
