Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov has urged Spanish entrepreneurs to invest in Bulgaria because of the good conditions it provides.

Borisov is leading the Bulgarian delegation, which is on a three-day visit to Spain.

At a forum on economics and investments, organized by the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (CEOE), the prime minister presented different options for development of different businesses in Bulgaria.

"We are very fast and very flexible. Form a large business delegation and come to Bulgaria. I will bring all the ministers who are related to the issues that interest you. We are open to public-private partnership on various projects. I have never refused to meet any company," Borisov said.

He pointed out that the absorption of EU finds in Bulgaria increased 10 times since the ruling party GERB came into power in 2009.

"Many things could be done in Bulgaria and there is a guaranteed financing. We have low taxes, which are relatively stable, the unemployment is under 10%, and the budget deficit is under 3%. Most importantly for the business, we have a currency board, which guarantees the Bulgarian lev. In practice, the Bulgarian lev is officially tied to the euro," Borisov said.

The Bulgarian prime minister also expressed his opinion that the Arab world and Africa will experience shortage of foods and said that this global tendency calls for investing in agriculture and food production.

"We can think of something new, through the United Nations or the Red Cross. We can prepare and sell or provide food to people who will need it. Because at one point, there will be a demand, but no supply. It is the same with livestock – it takes years to restore a certain population," Borisov said.

He pointed out that being able to provide food would have a very big advantage in the future.

"Those who have food will be equal to those who have oil," Borisov said.

The conference by CEOE was also attended by the Bulgarian Economy Minister Traicho Traikov and the Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov.
