Bulgaria's first science and technology park will be constricted in the capital Sofia, it has been announced.

The project is to cost a total of EUR 50 M that will be paid by EU's Competitiveness Operational Program.

The park will occupy an area of 230 decares at Sofia's so-called "4th kilometer" and will be a hub for science and business that will include a business incubator and a laboratory, according to Zhulieta Hubenova, Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism.

Two or three similar parks are expected to be built over the next EU program period. In 2012, Bulgaria will start receiving EU Competitiveness projects via an electronic documentation system.
