Bulgarian custom officers have prevented Saturday night an illegal export of antiques at the Kalotina border checkpoint, the Customs Agency reported Sunday.

After a check of an Audi with UK license plates at the Serbian border the officers found four parcels hidden behind the back seat. The car was about to leave Bulgaria.

The parcels contained 706 ancient coins, crosses and other items.

In another check the same night the officers discovered 16 present-day gold rings in the jacket of a bus driver, travelling to Germany.
