The Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy, where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes exchanged vows is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a murdered duchess.
Odescalchi Castle was built in the second half of the 15th century for the aristocratic Orsini family.
Locals say the castle is cursed by the ghost of Isabella de' Medici, who was murdered in 1576 by her husband, Prince Paolo Giordano Orsini, the Lord of Bracciano.
Accounts differ over whether the tragedy was the result of an infidelity by Isabella or Orsini's infatuation with another woman.
One of the stories says that Isavella, Orsini's much younger wife, used to cheat on her husband and secretly met her lovers in the castle. Those that did not satisfy her were flung out of a separate door down a spiked well.
When her violent husband discovered her unfaithfulness, he decided to kill her. So during dinner one night the duke leaned in to kiss his wife and garrotted her.
