Bulgaria's mountain resorts are finally able to offer good skiing opportunities for their guests thanks to a combination of cold weather and snow.

Temperatures at Cherni Vruh, the highest peak in Vitosha mountain (2290m), fell to 3 C below zero. Tourists heading for Musala, the highest peak on the Balkans, located in the Rila mountain, will have to brace for temperatures of 7 C below zero.

The ski runs in all mountain resorts are functional, but skiers should be on high alert for avalanches.

More than 100 centimetres of snow coat the ground in the resort of Bansko, 40 centimetres in Pamporovo and 120 centimetres in Borovets.
